After
the immediate danger of a fire has been taken care of, homeowners are left with
the aftermath. The destruction caused by fire ranges from minor smoke
damage to extreme structural damage. The Midstates Home Solutions team
strives to respond within 24 hours of a call for fire damage. We will
send a certified builder to the site to assess the damage. Each instance
varies widely, yet there are standard things that must be done to rid your home
of the scars left in the wake of a fire.
Smoke Damage
Even with a small kitchen fire, the smoke could engulf the entire house.
The odor and stains have contaminated each and every nook and cranny including:
furniture, walls, clothing, carpet, etc. Thus, the smoke residue must be
cleaned from every nook and cranny. Our team will arrange whatever
specialty services are necessary to ensure that the entire structure as well as
its contents are rid of the smoke residue. If the wallpaper and carpeting
are damaged beyond cleaning capacity, we will replace them. The walls
will also be recaulked and repainted to seal the odor and stains and leave the
house with a fresh look.
Non-Structural Damage
The fire itself or the heat caused by fire may have damaged the wiring in the
house and/or melted shingles on the roof. These would be assessed and
replaced if necessary. The insulation may need to be replaced as
well. Structural wood that had been charred but not destroyed would be
scraped, sealed and repainted.
Structural Damage
Our team coordinates with the Building Department and Insurance Companies to
restore your home. We advocate for your safety and best interest.
Depending upon the damage, blueprints, permits and code inspections may be
necessary. Midstates Home Solutions will do whatever it takes to re-build
and restore your home in accordance with municipality codes. We are
qualified to re-build structure as well as any cosmetic work that must be
done. The insurance company will be billed for all damage expenses over
and above the deductible. Should the homeowner decide to take advantage
of the opportunity to make additional home improvements, our team would be more
than willing to accommodate.
